Temperature Dependence of Material Properties

One or more PRAP analysed resonance files can be added to a PRAP compound file (of extension '.PZC'). By including analysed resonance spectra acquired at different temperature, the temperature dependence of material properties can be studied.  The added resonance spectra should in general be acquired at the same DC bias voltage. 

To study the effect of time on the material properties; 

  1. Open a new compound file with the 'New Compound File' command of the File menu.

  2. Using the 'Add PZF File' command of the File menu, add the spectra you wish to study.

  3. Ensure that each spectrum has been analysed. You can do this by displaying each included resonance scan with the 'Display Resonance Scan' menu command from the Window menu.

  4. Selected the 'Display Axes' command of the Window menu.

  5. For the x-axis, select temperature.

  6. For the y-axis, select the material property to be studied. The list of available properties is limited to those available from the analysed resonance spectra included in the compound file.

  7. Select 'OK'. The real and imaginary parts of the selected property will be plotted as a function of temperature.

  8. The results can be copied to another Windows application with the Copy command of the File menu.

Optional Temperature Data Acquisition Module

An optional data acquisition module is available that allows resonance spectra to be automatically collected as a function of temperature. In its basic configuration, the temperature data acquisition module automatically collects and analyses resonance spectra at specific sample temperatures, freeing the user of constantly monitoring the heating and cooling cycles of their samples. It also removes the tedium and chance for error of manually collecting individual resonance scans, analysing them, and adding them to a compound file. This optional module requires the PRAP basic data acquisition module.
