Solartron 1260(Instrument Driver for PRAP and ZAP)Built into the optional data acquisition module of PRAP and ZAP is a driver for the Solartron 1296 impedance analyser. The driver communicates directly with the instrument through an IEEE GPIB interface to collect resonance spectra into a new window of the software. Instrument settings are made through a single intuitive dialogue box.
The Solartron 1260 is capable of scanning between 0.0005 Hz and 32 MHz, and can apply a signal between 0 V and 3 V. It can generate a DC bias of between 40.95 V and -40.95 V. Above 10 MHz, the AC signal is limited to less than 1 V. A DC bias greater in magnitude than 40.95 V can be applied to a specimen by amplifying the bias generated by the instrument, but additional isolation circuitry is required. The PRAP and ZAP software interface permit scans containing virtually any number of points. The Solartron 1296 Dielectric Interface extends the capability of any impedance analyser to measure very large impedances (on the order of 1014 ohms). Both PRAP and ZAP can read files generated by the Z60W data acquisition software package, and the controller software of the Solartron 1296.
